A review meeting regarding the revenue collection status for the financial year 2025-26 was held at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami. The Chief Minister directed officials to pay special attention to increase the revenue recovery and ensure that set targets are completed on time. Regular monitoring should be conducted by senior officials of the concerned departments and District Magistrates in the districts. To effectively control tax evasion, there should be maximum use of AI-based technology. All work related to recording and registration should be digitized. Sub-registrar offices should be regularly inspected by District Magistrates and concerned senior officials. To ensure the proper value of property is recorded during registration, physical on-site inspections of properties should also be carried out.
The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the delay in the process of collecting Green Cess from vehicles outside the state. He directed the Transport Department to start the recovery of Green Cess soon. The Chief Minister directed that, while keeping environmental protection in mind, forest wealth should be used correctly in the interest of the state. A solid plan should be made to perform better in the fields of commercial plantation and medicinal herbs in Terai region.
The Chief Minister stated that increasing revenue for the overall development of the state is the government’s top priority. He said that to realize Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s resolve to make “this decade the decade of Uttarakhand”, resource augmentation is being implemented in mission mode. He noted that Uttarakhand has achieved the top position among special category states. Furthermore, the state has received a central incentive of ₹200 crore for excellent performance in mining reforms, which is an indicator of the state moving in the right direction. A tax revenue target of ₹24,015 crore has been set for the financial year 2025-26, of which more than 62 percent has been achieved so far. He directed the concerned departments to make coordinated and proactive efforts for 100 percent fulfilment of the target in the coming period.
Chief Minister said that the state government is placing special emphasis on capital investment for long-term economic strength. Capital expenditure has been increased by 34 percent, which will give new momentum to infrastructure development in the state and create permanent assets. He said that for making financial management modern and responsive, it is necessary to maintain a constant focus on policy reforms, innovation and new technologies. Our objective is an administration that provides transparency, accountability and solid results in public interest. For this, all officials must remain engaged in work with strict financial discipline, better management and collective responsibility.
