With a view to ensuring collective responsibility, especially of tourists, tour operators, travel agencies and drivers, in maintaining the natural cleanliness and beauty of the state of Uttarakhand, Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi has given instructions to strictly enforce the rule of mandatorily putting dustbin / garbage bag in all vehicles entering to Uttarakhand. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to conduct regular checking and challan in this regard. She has given instructions to ensure strict compliance of the orders issued by the Transport Department in this regard.

~Earlier~ In this regard, the Transport Department also wrote a letter to the Transport Commissioners of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. According to the instructions issued by the Transport Department, during the Chardham Yatra, under the Swachhata Abhiyan, passengers sitting in vehicles cannot throw garbage on the roads and it is mandatory to put dustbin / garbage bag in all vehicles. The Chief Secretary said that while issuing trip cards to vehicles entering the state, it must be ensured that every vehicle has a dustbin / garbage bag. The general public should be informed about this on a wide scale. In this regard, She has also given instructions to establish dialogue and coordination with tour operators, travel agencies and drivers.

Chief Secretary Smt Radha Raturi said that being a tourist state, maintaining the natural cleanliness of the state and protecting the environment is the collective responsibility of the residents of Uttarakhand as well as the tourists and devotees who come here in lakhs every year. This is a task of collective participation.
