Year 2026: Dhami Government in the Direction of Good Governance, Development and Self-reliant Uttarakhand
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the year 2026 is going to be a decisive and result-oriented year for the state’s development. After historic policy decisions, the government’s main focus will now be on the effective implementation of schemes, ground-level change, and solid improvement in the income and standard of living of the common citizen. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the action plan for the year 2026 is centered around good governance, inclusive development, economic self-reliance, agriculture-horticulture empowerment and environmental balance.
*Good Governance and Administrative Reforms*
The government’s primary goal is to make the governance system more transparent, accountable and technology-based. In the year 2026, while compulsorily implementing e-governance in all departments, the digital file system, online services and time-bound delivery will be strengthened. Under the zero-tolerance policy on corruption, quick redressal of public grievances and availability of services within the fixed time limit are among the government’s top priorities.
*Infrastructure and Connectivity*
Strengthening road, rail and air connectivity in the state is an important pillar of the 2026 agenda. Special attention will be given to the Char Dham All Weather Road, Rishikesh–Karnaprayag rail project, expansion of heli services and construction of strategic roads in border areas, so that easy access to health, education and emergency services can be ensured to mountainous and remote areas.
*Horticulture, Polyhouse and Kiwi Policy: New Backbone of Rural Economy*
In the year 2026, the Dhami government’s strongest focus is to make horticulture, along with agriculture, the main medium for increasing income. Under this, polyhouse farming, kiwi production, high-value crops and apple–kiwi policy are being given special priority.
The state government will promote polyhouse-based farming on a large scale in mountainous areas, so that farmers can grow vegetables, flowers and high-quality crops throughout the year. For polyhouses – grants, technical assistance, training and systems to connect with the market will be further strengthened.
Under the Kiwi Mission/Kiwi Policy, the goal has been set to make Uttarakhand the leading kiwi-producing state of the country. Higher income from less land through kiwi cultivation, better market price and export possibilities will help in making farmers self-reliant. Along with this, the value chain of apple, pear, walnut and other mountain fruits will be developed.
The objective of the government is to make horticulture the main weapon in the direction of doubling “income from farming” so that migration stops and employment opportunities are created in the villages themselves.
*Tourism: Employment and Local Participation*
Developing tourism as an economic engine is an important part of the 2026 strategy. Along with making the Char Dham Yatra safe and technically capable, winter tourism, adventure tourism, eco-tourism and homestay schemes will be encouraged. There will be special emphasis on tourism-based job creation through the participation of local youth and women.
*Employment, Youth and Skill Development*
In the year 2026, the resolve to keep government recruitments completely transparent, time-bound and leak-proof has been reiterated. To increase employment in the private sector – startups, IT parks, industry and investment will be promoted. Skill development, technical training, and self-employment schemes for the youth will be expanded.
*Women Empowerment and Social Reform*
With the effective implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), special attention will be given to women’s safety, education, health and economic empowerment. Women will be connected to the mainstream of development by encouraging self-help groups, Lakhpati Didi scheme and women entrepreneurship.
*Environmental Protection and Disaster Management*
The conservation of Himalayan ecology, rejuvenation of rivers and water sources, protection of forests and strengthening of disaster early warning systems are among the long-term priorities of the government.
The year 2026 will be the year of “Results from Policies” for the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami government. By strengthening the rural economy through high-income schemes like horticulture, polyhouse and kiwi, the government aims to make Uttarakhand an empowered, self-reliant and balanced development state, where development and nature move forward together and every citizen gets equal opportunities.
*The year 2026 will be the year to show results for Uttarakhand. Our objective is that the benefit of good governance reaches every citizen. By promoting polyhouse farming, kiwi, apple and other high-value crops in mountainous areas, our special focus will be on increasing the income of farmers.*
*Empowering youth and women is our priority. Along with transparency in government recruitments, startups, industry and self-employment opportunities are being increased. We will pay special attention to women empowerment and environmental protection. Our goal is that Uttarakhand becomes an empowered, safe, self-reliant and full of development opportunities state where farmers are prosperous, youth are hopeful and women become participants in the mainstream
