SHO absent during CM Dhami’s surprise inspection, ordered to be line-attached immediately

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a surprise inspection of Dalanwala Police Station in Dehradun, found the Station House Officer absent from duty and directed that he be line-attached with immediate effect. The Chief Minister stated in strong words that any level of negligence in sensitive responsibilities like law and order and public service is an unpardonable offence, and such cases will invite immediate and stringent action.

After attending various meetings, Chief Minister Shri Dhami suddenly reached the police station and conducted a comprehensive inspection of its overall functioning. The surprise visit caused a stir in the police department, and the actual condition of arrangements on the ground came to light.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister directly interacted with several complainants present at the police station and listened seriously to their grievances. He instructed police personnel that complaints should be registered not as a mere formality but as a responsibility, and that their immediate, impartial and effective resolution must be ensured.

The Chief Minister also visited the Women Help Desk and interacted with women complainants to understand their issues. He emphasized that sensitivity, confidentiality and prompt action in matters related to women’s safety are mandatory, and warned of strict action in case of any laxity.

The Chief Minister conducted a detailed inspection of the FIR register, reviewing the action taken on registered cases, the status of follow-ups and information regarding pending matters. He also examined the duty register and attendance register and issued directions to fix accountability and responsibility of personnel.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure over dirt and disorder in the lock-up located within the police station and directed that proper cleanliness and arrangements in accordance with prescribed standards be ensured immediately. He stated that the condition of a police station reflects the work culture of governance and administration.

The Chief Minister reviewed ongoing actions related to vehicle checking drives, verification campaigns and crime control, and clearly instructed that no slackness whatsoever would be tolerated in these operations. He also expressed serious dissatisfaction with the traffic management in the area and ordered a detailed inquiry to fix responsibility.

On the Chief Minister’s directions, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Dehradun immediately reached the police station, reviewed the situation on the spot and initiated necessary disciplinary action.

Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami stated firmly:
“ *Every officer and employee associated with law and order is accountable to the public. Negligence, indiscipline or insensitivity in public service will not be tolerated at any cost. Reform, transparency and accountability in the police system are our top priorities. The government will not hesitate to take the strictest action in public interest.”*
