*Statement of Hon\u2019ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami*<\/p>\n

The brutal murder of North East student Angel Chakma, who was studying in Dehradun, is an extremely painful and distressing incident.<\/p>\n

This is not merely the loss of a student\u2019s life, but the untimely end of a family\u2019s dreams and hopes.<\/p>\n

I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the late Angel Chakma and pray to God to grant them the strength to endure this unbearable grief.<\/p>\n

Today, I also spoke to Angel Chakma\u2019s father. In this moment of profound sorrow, I conveyed to him my heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire people of Uttarakhand. Words felt inadequate in this tragic hour, but I assured him clearly that all those responsible for his son\u2019s murder will be arrested at the earliest and handed over to the law.<\/p>\n

I would like to state unequivocally that maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens is the highest priority of the Uttarakhand Government. In this serious case, the police have taken prompt, sensitive, and strict action, most of the accused have already been arrested, and continuous, effective efforts are underway to apprehend the main absconding accused.<\/p>\n

The guilty will not be spared under any circumstances and will be awarded the strictest punishment in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n

Uttarakhand is a peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious state, where students coming from every corner of the country should feel safe, this is our collective responsibility. Concrete and necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of students from the North East as well as from all other states studying in Uttarakhand.<\/p>\n

The Uttarakhand Government stands firmly with the victim\u2019s family with full sensitivity and resolve, and is completely committed to ensuring justice in this deeply painful case.<\/p>\n
